Nepali Congress welcomes Chaudhary
Kathmandu, October 30
Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress Party Sher Bahadur Deuba has welcomed industrialist Binod Chaudhary to his party today.
Chaudhary, who was a lawmaker representing CPN-UML in the first constituent assembly, has joined the democraticforce ahead of the provincial and parliamentary elections.
“I believe politics drives all the policies,” Chaudhary told The Himalayan Times, explaining his decision to join the NC, adding he supports the socialist-democratic ideologies.
He further said that he had answered the public call made by the prime minister and would strive to make meaningful contribution to the economic transformation of the country, given the opportunity.
As per the media release issued by Deuba, Nepali Congress has welcomed Chaudhary as he has made significant contribution for the economic transformation of the country. Deuba has also requested all industrialists, entrepreneurs and professionals of the country to join hands for the economic development of the country.
“Our priority is in strengthening the democratic process and achieving fastest economic growth of the country. We want to give leadership roles to those who have contributed towards attaining economic development of the country,” Deuba has stated in the statement. He also said that democratic force is planning to make economic prosperity its major agenda in the forthcoming elections set for November 26 and December 7.
Chaudhary is the president of Chaudhary Group (CG) and the sole Nepali to make it to the list of Forbes’ top billionaires. CG has invested in multiple sectors in the country and abroad.
CG is running 112 companies and 76 brands across the world. It has investments in biotech and ayurveda, cement industry, education, electronic goods, energy and infrastructure, financial services and hotels and resorts at present.
According to the Chaudhary Group, around 6,000 people are employed in its more than 40 businesses.
According to Forbes, Chaudhary owns property worth $1.38 billion and is ranked as 1,567th richest person of the world.
Chaudhary has also published an autobiography, which has been translated into English as well.
