KATHMANDU: Delhi Police today claimed to have recovered 2.5 kg of hashish concealed in two gramophones being parceled to Bangkok from a courier office and arrested a 48-year-old Nepal national in this connection.

According to Press Trust of India, Kesh Bahadur Gurung was apprehended on Thursday along with the gramophones in which the hashish was concealed, at a courier company's office in GTB Nagar, north Delhi.

"The contraband was concealed in cavities of the antique-looking gramophones. The drug was wrapped in carbon paper and kept in six packets," Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Neeraj Thakur said.

The parcel was booked in the name of John Michael of Bangkok. The arrest follows a tip off regarding a gang based in Nepal smuggling hashish to their clients in foreign countries by concealing it in parcels and sending through Indian courier companies.
