Nepali youths to take part in One Young World

KATHMANDU: A team of two Nepali youths is going to participate in the One Young World summit, first global youth gathering in London, which plans to bring 1,500 young leaders from 192 countries.

The summit is going to be held in London from 8-10 February where 1,500 young people aged 25 and under, from 192 countries, will meet for a global summit to debate one of the biggest challenges facing the planet.

Dr Ritesh Thapa and Sunita Basnet are representing Nepal. They are heading for London tomorrow to deliver their speeches on one of the burning topics.

Talking to The Himalayan Times today, Dr Thapa said that the summit was going to be organised by One Young World to make the youths capable of leading the world in positive direction.

He said that under the guidance of counsellors, they would be holding plenary sessions of the conference where contemporary issues ranging from global health, political leadership, interfaith dialogue, media and the environment will surface for discussions.

The summit will generate resolution for better future and steering the world into the right direction.

London Mayor Boris Johnson will be inaugurating the summit. UK Minister for Youth, Dawn Butler, Pakistan’s Minister for Youth Affairs, Shahid Hussain Bhutto, Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and many other renowned personalities would be addressing the summit which lasts for three days.
