Nepathya, Nepal's famous rock-folk band, today released a new music video 'Saili Mori Lai' composed by prominent poet Manjul five decades ago.

In a statement issued today, Nepathya said, the poet was 19 years of age when he penned this song to raise public awareness though music around hilly areas of Eastern Nepal.

The band's lead singer and social activist, Amrit Gurung said, "I fondly remember the words in the poem as I have read it repeatedly," he said adding that this time around those words were composed as a song.

Following Manjul-Ramesh's trekking based travel-blog 'Samjhana ka Paila haru', I also trekked to the eastern part of Nepal, a decade ago," Gurung shared.

While walking down the hill in Okhaldhunga district, one moment really made me romantic and reminded me Manjul's poem, Gurung said referring to meeting with a newly wed couple on the way, who later accompanied him.

On the way, I tried to capture the couple's picture in my camera. Suddenly, the bride's face turned red as her excited husband faintly kept his hand around his wife's shoulder, that moment reminded me of seeing the real moment of Manjul's 'Saili Mori Lai.'

As I was ascending, sitting on the mountain blanketed by red rhododendrons overlooking Diktel, I composed Manjul's words into a song," Gurung reminisced.

Reacting on the video on its rekease, Manjul said that he was very pleased to hear the new version of the song.

"I used to visit villages with the motive of social transformation though folk music, that has influenced me for long," Manjul elaborated, saying these words were penned down with these emotions.

The band was supported by Dhruba Lama on Drums, Suraj Thapa on Keyboards, Subin Shakya on Bass Guitar, Niraj Gurung on lead guitar and Santi Raymajhi on Madals, for arranging the song.
