Lalitpur, March 23:
The National Agriculture Research Council released a new variety of rice Sun-aulo Sugandha, which is aromatic and resistant to a few crop-related diseases.
Variety Approval, Release and Registration Sub-committee under the National Seed Board on Thursday released the new variety of rice.
Bhola Man Singh Basnet, chief of Communication, Publication and Documentation Division of the NARC told this daily that the new variety was released after 10 years of experiment in fields conducted by National Rice Research Programme with the help of the NARC, Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Stations and some international organisations.
He said, “This variety of rice is recommended to cultivate in rain-fed and irrigated areas of Tarai, inner Tarai and hills.” The NARC said Sunaulo Sugandha is 105 cm tall and could be harvested within 151 days.
