KATHMANDU, JUNE 9
The National Federation of Disabled-Nepal has demanded amendment to the relevant policy to ensure the access of children with disabilities to school education.
During an interaction on inclusive education for the persons with disabilities here today, the participants said the National Education Policy, 2019 had failed to assimilate inclusive policy relating to disability.
On the occasion, a memorandum was submitted to the Minister of Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel seeking to reissue the Inclusive Education Policy, 2013.
The Federation has emphasised the roles and responsibilities of local governments in bringing the disadvantaged children to schools and called for implementation of a special programme targeting them.
Receiving the memo, Minister Paudel pledged to guarantee jobs for disabled persons as per its capacity and address the genuine demands of the federation gradually.
