Kathmandu, March 28:

President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, Ang Tsering Sherpa, has been conferred with the highest medal by the Belgium government for his service as the honourary consul of Belgium to Nepal. Crown prince Philip, on behalf of King Albert II, awarded the ‘Knight in the Order of Leopol’ to Sherpa at a function held for the Belgian community in New Delhi on March 13. “NMA believes that this kind of medal brings prestige not only to him but also to the mountaineering fraternity and travel/trade industry,” the NMA said in a statement.
