No let-up in Tibetan refugees’ protest
Kathmandu, April 18:
Police today detained 130 Tibetan refugees as they staged demonstration in front of visa section of Chinese embassy at Hattisar protesting against the alleged crackdown of the Chinese government on Tibetan demonstrators at Lhasa in March.
The Tibetan refugees have been kept in Maharajgunj police battalion and Metropolitan Police Sector, Kamalpokhari.
“They would be freed late in the evening,” SP Sarbendra Khanal at the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, said.
The refugees are demonstrating in Nepal since March 10. They had taken out a rally on the day to mark Uprising Day which they are marking since the Chinese government took control of Tibet.
The refugees had discontinued their protest from April 7 considering the April 10 CA polls in Nepal and resumed it from April 15.
