No plan to allow vehicles of top officials to fly national flag: MoGA

Kathmandu, September 1

The Ministry of General Administration today clarified that it had no plans to allow senior government officials to fly the national flag on their vehicles but only to assign a special rank insignia to distinguish their vehicles from those of others.

Earlier, a section of media had reported that the MoGA was planning to introduce a policy to allow the vehicles of chief secretary and secretaries to fly the national flag.

“This ministry has so far not disseminated any official information regarding any such plan,” MoGA spokesperson Rupnarayan Bhattarai said in a statement. “We are only carrying out internal discussions regarding the use of a logo to distinguish the identity of the civil servants.”

Minister for General Administration Lal Babu Pandit also clarified that the ministry itself had no such plans but that it might have received such suggestions while collecting feedback on the proposed Fifth Amendment bill of the Civil Service Act.
