Kathmandu, January 20

Though the Nepal Red Cross Society has urged the organisation and manpower development committee to look into the resignations of two of its senior members, no probe has taken place yet.

The central committee has authorised Sudarshan Nepal, head of the organisation and manpower development committee to study the case. Nepal, however, is said to be out of station.

Citing irregularities in the election process and membership distribution, Dr Gauri Shankar Lal Das and Laxman Prasad Upadhyay had submitted their resignations a month ago.

Instead of accepting the resignations, the central committee meeting held here recently

has decided to investigate their allegations.

Das and Upadhyay have stated that they did not want to be a part of the ad hoc committee, which does not follow the decisions of the main committee.

"Many sub-committees were formed violating the norms which we came to know only via media," the letter states. They have also demanded investigation and action against the irresponsible committee members.

Central committee member Devendra Bahadur Pradhan said the organisation and manpower development committee has still not begun its probe.

He said that if the problem is not resolved then the other bodies should be allowed to step in.
