No sexual exploitation in camps: Maoist leader

Lalitpur, January 2:

Jaya Puri Gharti, president of All Nepal Women Association (Revolutionary), today denied that there were any cases of sexual exploitation in the Maoist camps during a decade-long war.

She said this while speaking at an interaction on Constituent Assembly and Women Participation organised by Nagarik Awaaj.

“So far, only one case of sexual exploitation in the Maoist camps has been filed and the perpetrators of the crime were infiltrated elements. We have taken strong action against the culprits,” she said.

“We have taken all the precautions to avoid sexual exploitation in the Maoist camps. Perpetrators of any from of misbehaviour were punished by either demotion or transfer to another camp,” she said.
