KATHMANDU:

Khushi Lal Mandal, a leader of the Nepal Sadbhavana Party-Anandidevi, has warned the government that all the Madhesis would take to the streets if they were not provided with citizenship cards.

“The government’s decision to make 1991 as the cut off time for determining eligibility to Nepali citizenship is against the 1990 Constitution,” he said while talking at Reporters’ Club on Thursday. He said some five million people are waiting for Nepali citizenship. He urged the government to amend the proposed citizenship bill and let all Nepalis have citizenship.
