NSU urges agitating parties to opt for dialogue

Kathmandu, September 14

Nepal Student’s Union, the student wing of ruling Nepali Congress, today urged all the agitating parties to put forth their demands through peaceful protest and dialogue and support the government in the constitution making process.

Issuing a press statement here today, NSU said the country was heading towards drafting the constitution through national consensus, thus everyone concerned should support the government.

“Our leaders are in the process of drafting the constitution and in such a state, we should welcome and support them in the constitution drafting process rather than continuing violent acts,” said Ranjit Karna, president of NSU in the statement.

The statement said that destroying the statue of the great leader Girija Pasad Koirala in Parsa and vandalism in the district offices of NC was not only an attack on offices but an attack on democracy.

“We would also like to request the concerned authorities to take strict action against those who were involved in violent acts including vandalism and arson in Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sunsari and many other districts,” he added. NSU also expressed deep condolence to the families of those who lost their lives in the protest.
