NSU veep accuses leadership of tyranny

Kathmandu, April 27:

Nepal Students’ Union leaders today accused the leadership of leading the union unilaterally without organising formal meetings for six months.

NSU vice president Bhupendra Jung Shahi, issuing a press release, claimed that the the union’s leadership failed to come up with a clear vision prior to the constituent assembly elections and could not run the organisation effectively as no meeting was called to assess the functioning following the election.

“The NSU leadership has been publicising the decisions made by a few people claiming to be the authentic version of the union,”

he said.

The NSU leadership unilaterally filled the remaining positions of the central

committee when other leaders had left the Valley for the elections.

He also demanded the leadership to call a formal meeting in two weeks.

Similarly, 54 NSU members, excluding the then president Kalyan Gurung, who came from the former NSU affiliated to then Nepali Congress (Democratic) today asked the NSU leadership to call central committee meeting and announce the date for the national convention of the union within three months.

Issuing a release, they accused the leadership of flouting the the party’s rules, adding that due to this, the decisions of the central committee have not been implemented yet.

They also claimed in the release that the crucial decisions to be made by the central committee meetings were already decided at informal meetings and have forwarded the statement to the Nepali Congress.
