KATHMANDU, MAY 16

The Nepal Workers' and Peasants' Party has registered victory in all local level posts in Bhaktapur Municipality in the recently held elections.

NWPP candidates won the elections for the post of municipality mayor, and all ward posts.

Sunil Prajapati was elected mayor for a second term receiving 29,200 votes, leaving his closest competitor Nepali Congress' Ram Prasad Kasula far behind in the race as the latter had garnered only 3352 votes.

Similarly, Rajani Joshi secured the deputy mayor's spot, also for a second consecutive term, with 29,695 votes, while CPN-UML's Ranjana Kharbuja finished far second with 2784 votes.

Bhaktapur municipality is known as the fort of NWPP.

The posts of ward chair and members have also gone to the party.

The district with a total population of 81,728 had 57,270 eligible voters.
