‘Obstruction halted only for the day’

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Chief Whip Balkrishna Khand told THT that his party had ended House obstruction only Wednesday to discuss the plight of disaster victims and it would continue to demand formation of a parliamentary committee to probe the loss of two lives in Sarlahi in police firing.

“NC and Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal are ending the House obstruction just for  today. In  the next House meeting, we will obstruct House proceedings  again with our demand. The government has not pledged to address our demands yet,” he said, adding that his party had ended House obstruction after  Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara pledged that his party would  include only the motion of urgent public importance in the House’s  business  schedule.
