OCE to publish book on SLC history
Madhyapur Thimi, August 22:
The Office of the Controller of Examination (OCE) will publish a book on the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination.
The book will contain information about SLC since 1933, deputy controller Gopal Bhattarai said, adding that they are collecting data for the book.
“This is the first book of its kind in the history of education in Nepal,” Bhattarai said.
The book will have information about the number of students each year, number of passed students, exempted students, the highest scorers and those who secured top 10 positions, and the number of subjects offered since 1934, he said.
“We want to disseminate information about the SLC and its various aspects,” he added. The book will give an overall picture of the history of school education in the country and be helpful for planners and educationists, Bhattarai said.
He said that the preliminary work started last year, but they could not collect required data due to various reasons. The project will be completed within the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
“The project is taking time due to lack of computerised data before 1997,” he said. “We are also trying to include data on the number of passed students from different communities since 1997,” he added.
