KATHMANDU, MARCH 28

One person injured during a pro-monarchy protest that turned violent has died from a gunshot wound.

The protester was rushed to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) but was declared dead on arrival. The deceased have been identified as Sabin Maharjan (29) of Kirtipur-4, according to the Home Ministry.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination at the hospital.

Earlier, police fired tear gas to disperse demonstrators attempting to breach a restricted area. As tensions escalated, security forces deployed rubber bullets and fired warning shots to control the situation. Several individuals were also detained for defying the restrictions.

Multiple protesters sustained injuries during the clashes and were transported to TUTH in Maharajgunj for treatment.
