KATHMANDU, MARCH 28

A journalist lost his life in a fire that engulfed a building in Tinkune during violent pro-monarchy protests.

Suresh Rajak, a photojournalist with Avenues Television, had been documenting the protests from the rooftop of the building when demonstrators set it ablaze after accusing police of launching tear gas from inside the structure. Rajak went missing shortly after the fire started, according to Avenues TV.

Later, police reportedly discovered a severely burned body on the fourth floor of the building. While it is suspected to be Rajak, official identification is still pending.

It has been learnt that Avenues Television Chairman Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar has arrived at the scene.
