KATHMANDU, MARCH 31
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli briefed Parliament today on his upcoming official visit to Thailand and participation in the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit. PM Oli is set to depart for Thailand on Tuesday.
Addressing the House of Representatives, PM Oli highlighted that this marks the first official visit by a Nepali prime minister to Thailand since the establishment of diplomatic ties 65 years ago.
He emphasized the significance of the visit, noting that Bangkok serves as a key transit hub for Nepalis traveling beyond the country's immediate neighbors.
During the visit, he is also scheduled to hold meetings with the King of Thailand and his Thai counterpart. Two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) related to tourism and culture are scheduled to be signed. Additionally, six MoUs between non-governmental sectors of both nations will be inked in the presence of the two prime ministers.
PM Oli will also engage with prominent Thai business leaders and address an event at the Asian Institute of Technology.
On April 4, he is scheduled to address the BIMSTEC Summit. He also plans to hold sideline meetings with leaders of participating member states, as per feasibility.
