Tributes have been paid to journalist Suresh Rajak, who lost his life during the violent protests staged by pro-monarchy protestors in Tinkune, Kathmandu, on Friday.
The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) led a demonstration at Maitighar this morning, demanding a thorough investigation into Rajak's tragic death and strict action against those responsible.
Rajak, a cameraman for Avenues Television, was found burnt inside a building allegedly set on fire by protestors in Tinkune.
Speaking at the protest, FNJ Acting President Deepak Acharya reiterated the Federation's commitment to ensuring justice for the deceased journalist. He also called on all journalists to stand together to safeguard their lives and property.
Former FNJ presidents Taranath Dahal, Dharmendra Jha, Shiva Gaunle, and other senior journalists joined the protest, demanding justice for Rajak and compensation for his bereaved family.
Meanwhile, all programs scheduled for FNJ's Establishment Day have been postponed in light of the incident. The FNJ has launched a protest movement, said its central treasurer, Ram Krishna Adhikari.
The Federation has also called an emergency meeting of its central committee members today to decide on further actions. Additionally, FNJ representatives will meet the Minister for Communications and Information Technology to submit a memorandum regarding the incident.
