KATHMANDU: Police on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl in Nagadesh of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-7, Bhaktapur.

According to a complaint lodged with police, Jaman Tamang, 24, of Kavre and currently residing in Suryabinayak of Bhaktapur had raped the girl. Rape cases are increasing in Kathmandu valley.

Police attribute the increase in reported rape cases to more women coming forward due to greater public awareness, but say that many more cases go unreported.
