Kathmandu, April 20:

Over 200 demonstrators and four policemen are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the capital after riot police and army personnel opened fire, baton-charged and teargassed demonstrators in different places today.

General secretary of the Nepal Medical Association (NMA) Dr Kiran Shrestha said over 15 people had injuries on their heads while seven had their limbs fractured due to use of force by the police. According to Shrestha, 60 persons each are undergoing treatment at the Model Hospital and Patan Hospital while 45 have been admitted to the TU Teaching Hospital. Likewise, 13 persons are undergoing treatment at B&B Hospital, 18 in Binayek Hospital in Gongabu and seven others at Om Hospital.

Shrestha rapped the government for not providing curfew passes to the Red Cross and ambulances. He said the NMA was monitoring all the hospitals where the injured people are undergoing treatment. The NMA has been operating 10 ambulances since the agitation began.
