Over 300 taxi drivers face action
KATHMANDU: More than 300 taxis have faced action under the special campaign launched by the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division.
The Division took 337 taxi drivers under control for cheating passengers and took action against them. The Division has been carrying out the special campaign since September 6.
Division Chief and Senior Superintendent of Police, Basanta Kumar Panta, said that they took the taxi drivers under control for charging high fare. He further said they would give continuity to the campaign.
The Division has deputed 50 traffic police officers for the purpose. The Department of Transport Management has charged fine upto Rs 3,000 from each taxi facing action.
According to the Department, 10,645 taxis are now in operation in Kathmandu Valley.
