PABSON science book not approved for use
Kathmandu, May 27
The Department of Education has directed all private schools not to use the science books published by P Publication, a printing firm owned by Private and Boarding Schools Organisation Nepal.
Director General of DoE Khagraj Baral said PABSON science book was published without approval from the Curriculum Development Centre.
The DoE has directed all private schools not to use books not approved by CDC as is against the Education Act and Education Regulations. As per section 8 of the Education Act-1971, schools can use only the curriculum and textbooks approved by the CDC. Chapter 7 of the Education Regulations-2002 states that CDC must approve the list of school textbooks and reference books.
If any school wants to use more reference books, it must lodge an application at respective District Education Office.
“The PABSON science book was not approved by CDC, but the publisher lied by claiming that it was. All regional education directors and DEOs have been directed to monitor textbooks used and take action against schools using unapproved textbooks,” Baral said.
