Pakistan PM Abbasi in Capital
KATHMANDU: Pakistani Prime Minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, has arrived in Kathmandu for a two-day official visit.
According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan, PM Abbasi’s visit comes in line with his country’s pro-active efforts to engage with neighbours. The official announcement of the visit on behalf of Nepal and Pakistan was made on Sunday.
Finance Minister Dr Yuvaraj Khatiwada received Abbasi at the Tribhuwan International Airport.
He will be receiving the guard of honour at Tundikhel on his arrival. He will be the first foreign dignitary to receive this honour in Tundikhel. Prior to this, dignitaries have been receiving the guard of honour at Tribhuvan International Airport itself.
PM Abbasi is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today. They would be discussing the mutual well-being between the two countries and other issues of bilateral concern of Nepal and Pakistan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
PM Oli will be hosting a dinner in honour of the Pakistani PM tonight.
PM Abbasi is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday, March 6, before returning to Pakistan.
