Panchthar man arrested with huge cache of controlled pharmaceutical drugs

KATHMANDU: Police said they have arrested a 26-year-old man in possession of controlled pharmaceutical drugs from Tokha of Kathmandu-5 on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team deployed from the Koteshwor-based Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Subash Angdembe, a permanent resident of Mikalajung Rural Municipality-2 in Panchthar district, and seized 500 ampoules of buprenorphine lupigesic, diazepam and phernargan each from his possession.

The preliminary investigation showed that Angdambe used to buy the contraband from Indo-Nepal border and smuggle to various retailers in major junctions including Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, police are investigating into the case.
