Panel to make inventory of Valley monuments

Kathmandu, March 21:
The Ministry for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation today formed a 13-member high-level task force, led by cultural expert Satya Mohan Joshi, to prepare an inventory of cultural heritage of the Kathmandu valley. A press release issued by the ministry states that the panel will prepare a detailed inventory of temples, pati-pauwas, monasteries, stone inscriptions, sattals, courtyards, bahals and rajkulos with historic, archaeological, religious importance within three months.
It will also prepare a profile of dances, festivals, processions and other events, the release adds. The panel will classify the monuments according to their religious, archaeological, religious and cultural importance. It will also classify them according to their international, regional, national and local importance, according to age and need of conservation. It will also collect information on traditional trust system. The release also states that the profile will be prepared in coordination with the ministry, Department of Archaeology, related municipalities, DDCs and non-government organisations.
