Kathmandu, January 17:

A 501-member committee has been constituted to commemorate the Martyrs’ Week throughout the kingdom from January 23 to 29, expressing hearty tributes and regards to the known and unknown martyrs of the nation.

A committee is headed by by mayor and Executive Officer of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Padma Raj Regmi.

The committee comprises chairmen and vice-chairmen of the District Development Committees, mayors of the municipalities, chief district officers, district education officers, the immediate past mayors and deputy mayors, chiefs of the government media, chiefs of the security bodies, industrialists, businessmen and representatives of social organisations and political parties.

As per the information given out at a meeting of the committee, various programmes like paying of tributes, morning procession, blood donation and the like would be organised in memory of the martyrs who attained martyrdom in the struggle for democracy of 2007 BS.
