Panels to implement pacts with India, China

KATHMANDU: The government on Thursday formed separate panels to implement agreements signed with India and China during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visits to the neighbours some months ago.

A Cabinet meeting held at Singhadarbar took the decision to this effect, according to Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai.

Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi heads both of the panels while joint-secretaries of various ministries are their members.

Meanwhile, the government endorsed the National Security Policy. It also decided to send a bill related to works and responsibilities of the National Security Council to the Bills Committee.

The Cabinet also decided that kidney patients need not pay dialysis costs now onward.

The meeting also decided to form a National Information and Technology Council.

While the Prime Minister heads the Council, Minister for Information and Communications and Minister for Science and Technology are its co-chairs.

The Chief Secretary, a National Planning Commission member and secretaries of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Urban Development among others are members of the team.
