Paragliding disrupts flights’ schedule

Kathmandu January 8:

National and international flights were disturbed for more than an hour due to the newly introduced adventure sports of paragliding at Bisankhunarayan VDC, Kotdanda of Lalitpur district today.

According to the Airport Police, four of the flights including Air Arabia, Jet Airlines and Thai Air were delayed by around 45 minutes beginning 2 pm today. Police said that both the take off and landing of international flights were affected due to paragliding activities at the southern part of the valley. Following the resumption of International flights, the domestic flights were disturbed for around 15 minutes because of air traffic congestion, a police officer said.

Citing security threat, the Airport administration had closed its operations for 45 minutes during which four international flights were delayed, said Purna Prasad Chudal, officer at the Tribhuvan International Airport Terminal Duty Office.
