Kathmandu, April 22:

A leopard attacked a 20-year old girl, Chandra Tamang, on the premises of a house in Thamel this morning, police said.

Tamang sustained injuries on her hand, police said, describing her condition as normal. Tamang has returned home after undergoing treatment at the Bir Hospital. “I was going to the rest room when a leopard attacked me all of a sudden,” the police quoted Tamang as saying. According to police, Tamang works as a domestic helper in the house owned by singer Abhaya Subba in Thamel, a tourist hub.

“Accompanied by officials from the forest office, we reached the spot. The leopard was hiding in a shrub. The beast fled when we pelted stones at it. We saw it heading towards the Education Ministry building, but then it disappeared in a while,” Ramesh Thapa, an inspector at the Metropolitan Police Section, Durbarmarg, said.
