Parties must unite: Nepal

JANAKPURDHAM: Former Prime Minister and senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal on Tuesday underscored the need to take all the parties into confidence regarding the 16-point agreement between the four major forces, few days ago, for its effective implementation.

Speaking at an interaction organised by Press Chautari Dhanusha chapter on Tuesday, Nepal urged everyone to support the promulgation of the much awaited statute without nagging about the nitty-gritty stuff. “Though it has been eight years that we have been talking about promulgation of the new statute, now is the time to make it happen to establish stability in the country. There is no alternative to pushing forward the statute drafting process by garnering consensus on contentious issues,” he said. With promulgation of the constitution, the country will get a new structure.

He said, “Coalition between Nepali Congress and CPN-UML is not enough, these forces should take other forces into confidence as well,” said Nepal.

He said federal states must not be put in the shadow.

Regarding the the 16-point agreement among the four forces was unique. He also advised that a way out of the court’s directive had to be sought by reaching the court itself. “May be the government will take some initiative,” he said.
