KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 26
Former prime minister and Chair of Nepal Samajwadi Party Baburam Bhattarai has said he is trying to create a new force rectifying the mistakes made in the past.
Taking to Facebook, Bhattarai stated that he had been making ideal efforts to take some old forces together in a bid to create an alternative political force hoping that they would reform themselves.
"We did not succeed in the past. And now we want to rectify those mistakes to achieve the desired results," he added.
Bhattarai had merged his party with Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal but soon Bhattarai and Yadav parted ways.
Bhattarai cited the quotes of Albert Einstein to drive home the message that things should be done differently to achieve new results.
"No problem can ever be solved at the same level of consciousness that created it," Bhattarai wrote.
Quoting Rosa Luxemburg's statement, Bhattarai wrote, "No revolution can remain stationary; it has either to move forward or backward."
Bhattarai said his generation had completed the 65-year long revolution for capitalist democracy championed by BP Koirala and Pushpa Lal by promulgating the new democratic republican constitution in 2015 through the Constituent Assembly.
"After the promulgation of the constitution, the top leaders of the parties had the responsibility to ensure good governance and egalitarian development through socio-economic transformation, polices and plans suitable to geopolitics of the country. However, political leaders have failed in these efforts as they are obsessed with power politics," he argued.
Bhattarai said people's growing frustration with old political forces was creating bases for alternative political force.
