Petrol samples sent to India
KATHMANDU: Secretary at the MoCS, Purushottam Ojha, said the samples of what appeared to be adulterated fuel, collected from depots in the eastern and central regions, were sent to labs in New Delhi. Two members of the high-level committee formed to probe adulteration cases have taken the samples to India. “We will seek compensation from the Indian Oil Corporation if it is found to be guilty. If the national entities are found to be behind the misdemeanour, we will take tough action against them.” He said the samples could not be sent to a third country as the highly inflammable products could not be sent via air. Meanwhile, Raju Chhetri, general manager, HH Bajaj, said the reports of tests on petroleum samples, which they had sent to India and Singapore for laboratory tests, would be made public by Wednesday. He said number of motorbike engine malfunction had gone down in recent days. “The hue and cry about fuel adulteration and the probe committee’s activities must have discouraged the culprits,” Chhetri added.
