PHSC begins hearing process for ambassadors' appointment

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) on Sunday began the procedure to conduct hearing on names of 22 persons recommended for appointment as Nepali ambassadors at various diplomatic missions.

A meeting of the Committee held on Sunday distributed complaints filed against the nominees to its members for study.

Meanwhile, the House panel also invited Chief Secretary Somlal Subedi and Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi to present themselves at the next meeting to inform the House panel if the names of ambassadorial nominees had already been sent to the host nations for agreemos before they were endorsed by the Committee.

The Cabinet on April 19 had recommended 21 names for appointment as Nepali ambassadors to various nations.

One more person was recommended for the ambassadorial berth few weeks later.
