KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 3

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal returned home after participating in the UN Climate Change Summit, COP-28, on Sunday afternoon.

PM Dahal was welcomed by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Foreign Minister NP Saud, other ministers, lawmakers, and high-level officials from the Embassy of the UAE in Nepal at the VVIP Lounge of TIA.

The global climate change event commenced on November 30. PM Dahal actively participated in the high-level segments on climate change on December 1 and 2, where he also delivered an address on December 2.

In his speeches, PM Dahal raised awareness within the global community about the adverse impacts of climate change on mountainous countries, emphasizing the urgent need for actions to prevent crimes against nature and humanity. He reiterated, "Our message is clear: mountains are tortured by rising temperatures. Save them first!"

PM Dahal also delivered a brief statement at the Nepal pavilion, emphasizing that climate change is a significant concern for Nepal, evident through its participation, pledges, and commitments at national, regional, and global levels to combat its adverse impacts.

During his stay in Dubai, the PM attended the 52nd National Unity Day of the UAE and the 'Sayed Sustainability Award' ceremony. He also held high-level meetings with chiefs of various states and governments. Additionally, PM Dahal had separate meetings with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the Cuban President, among others.

PM Dahal visited the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, engaged with the Nepali community there, and addressed the Nepal-UAE trade summit, urging investors to consider investing in Nepal."
