PM decides to revise protocol under pressure

Kathmandu, March 15

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has decided to revise protocol following pressure from political leaders after provincial governors were given higher status than former PM’s and political party chiefs during the swearing in of President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.

“PM Oli is ready to revise the protocol through a Cabinet decision as he himself felt yesterday that something had gone wrong,” the source said.

CPN-MC Chairman Dahal had also raised the issue during his meeting with PM Oli this morning. PM Oli has assured Dahal that the protocols will be revised.

In another development, CPN-MC Chairman Dahal today held a meeting with senior party leaders and sought their suggestions on the appointment of new ministers.

CPN-MC leader Debendra Poudel said Dahal briefed them on issues related to dispute in the judiciary, Cabinet expansion, elections for deputy speaker and vice chair of the National Assembly.

According to Paudel, CPN-MC lawmaker Shashikala Dahal is likely to be the vice chairperson of the National Assembly as per the allocation of top posts among the two constituents of the left alliance of the CPN-MC and CPN-UML.
