KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Thursday furnished their written explanations to the Supreme Court stating that they did not have any intention to disrespect the judiciary.

Responding to a show cause notice, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai furnished their explanations in relation to a contempt of court case filed against them by journalist Murari Sharma in the Supreme Court.

Advocate Bishnu Bhattarai submitted the explanation on behalf of the Prime Minister while advocate Anjita Khanal did the same on behalf of Dr Bhattarai.

They argued that commenting on court verdicts did not amount to contempt of court. The case was filed when the two top Maoist figures criticised the apex court ruling enabling the reinstatement of eight brigadier generals.
