PM reviews treatment of youths hurt in anti-corruption demonstrations

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 13

Prime Minister Sushila Karki today visited the National Trauma Centre to meet Gen-Z youths injured in last week's anti-corruption protests.

Centre Chief Dr. Badri Rijal informed her that 36 people remain admitted, including six in the ICU and two in critical condition. Some require surgery, but procedures are delayed due to the severity of their injuries.

The two-day nationwide demonstrations left 51 dead and more than a thousand injured. The protests ultimately led to the dissolution of the House of Representatives and the formation of Karki's interim government, which is mandated to hold new parliamentary elections on March 5, 2026.
