KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 5

Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has reaffirmed Nepal's claim over the Lipulek territory, stating that the government has registered an objection with China regarding the proposed China-India agreement to use the area as a trade route.

Speaking at the Second Statute Convention of his party at Sunrise Conference Hall in Lalitpur, PM Oli said he conveyed Nepal's disapproval directly to Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to China from August 30 to September 3. He added that the issue has also been communicated to India.

PM Oli further clarified that Nepal has not supported China's Global Security Initiative (GSI).
