PM pledges research and study on Nepal Himalayas
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday pledged to establish an academy for research and study on Nepal Himalayas.
The PM made such a remark during a meeting with a delegation of the Everest Summiteers Association at his official residence in Baluwatar this morning.
"Nepal is the country of the Himalayas. I will take the initiative to establish Nepal Mountain Academy for the people around the world, who want to study the mountains," PM's Press Coordinator, Manhari Timalsina, quoted PM Dahal as saying.
Nepal is home to eight of ten 10 tallest mountains in the world along with the Mt Everest, the highest peak in the world. It has made Nepal famous around the world.
The mountaineers extended congratulations to the PM and apprised him of the possibilities and difficulties related to climbing the mountains.
They urged the PM to formulate necessary policies on protecting the Himalayas and for providing security to the mountaineers, and establish Nepal Tourism University, said mountaineer Krishna KC, a member of the delegation.
