PM, UN official discuss nutrition status of Nepal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement coordinator Gerda Verburg held a meeting on Saturday.

In the meeting held at the PM's official residence, Baluwatar in Kathmandu, Dahal briefed Verburg about the nutrition situation in the country and improvements seen in the country through the initiatives carried out in the coordination of private sector and donor organisations.

Sustainable development and balanced development were the main agendas of the incumbent government, Dahal told the UN official.

Dahal further said that there would be much improvement in development status of the country after the local level elections, which would establish women leadership from the base.

Dahal also assured her to give a priority to nutrition in development programmes of health and education sector.

Meanwhile, Verburg said that the UN would provide Nepal with necessary supports in coming days to improve nutritional status of the country.
