KATHMANDU, MAY 6

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to submit detailed information on vehicles currently being used by former high-ranking state officials.

The directive follows an internal review by the Prime Minister's Office, which found that some former dignitaries may be using more vehicles than permitted by law or availing duplicate facilities from multiple state agencies, according to Dipa Dahal, Press and Investigation Expert to the PM Balendra Shah.

In a formal communication, the Home Ministry has been asked to provide comprehensive details, within office hours today, on the facilities being used by former President, Vice President, Prime Ministers, Chief Justices, Speakers, and National Assembly Chairs.

The move aims to prevent misuse of state resources, identify benefits exceeding legal limits, and ensure transparency in the use of public funds, Dahal added.
