police file fraud case owners club deja vu

Kathmandu: Police have formally filed a fraud case at Kathmandu District Court against 10 persons, who are the owners of Durbar Marg-based Club Deja Vu and organisers of the proposed live concert of December 13.

An official at Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, said the charge-sheet was filed through the Office of District Attorney. This is a case in which the government acts as plaintiff. Those facing the charge include cricketer Prithu Baskota, Jayan Shrestha, Mayank Khadka, Bishal Dangi, Ritesh Marwari and Rajesh Maharjan.

The official said Rs 3.32 million was claimed from the defendants on the basis of the price of tickets sold for the proposed concert. Hundreds of angry concert-goers had vandalised the club after the organisers said that American DJ Marshmello could not attend the scheduled concert due to his health.

Tickets for the live concert was priced at Rs 2,500 and Rs 3,500, but the club owners and organisers cheated the prospective audience by postponing the programme at the eleventh hour, police said.
