Police intervene semi-nude protest: in pictures

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested partially-clothed-women protestors participating in anti-rape and violence against women protest at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu, today.

The semi-nude women clothed in black orated at one of the busiest intersections in the city demanding legal provisions which ensure harsh actions against rape-convicts, before police intervened the scene and took them into custody.

Few third-genders and males had also participated in the event.

Earlier, the government through the local administration had enforced a protest-ban declaring Maitighar Mandala as protest-banned-site. However, in counter-response, the Supreme Court had stayed government’s decision.
