Police nab three for peddling drugs in Valley

Kathmandu, April 13:

A police team from the Narcotic Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit (NDCLEU), New Baneshwor, has arrested three persons and recovered 80 grams of brown sugar and 101 ampoules of Diazepam from them.

NDCLEU officials said Indraman Nepali, 20, was arrested with 70 grams of brown sugar that was wrapped in six plastic packets. “Nepali was waiting in front of the Telecommunication tower at Mahadevsthan-1, Kathmandu, for customers when the police pounced on him,” a police official said.

More than a hundred ampoules of Diazepam and an electronic weighing machine were also found Nepali’s rented room

at Bajrabarahi Hotel at KMC-15. Nepali is a native of Thankot-8, Kathmandu.

The police team also arrested two hardcore drug peddlers from Tilganga area at Gaushala yesterday. Shyam Krishna Pode, 52, and Gharti Pode, 33, were arrested with 10 grams of brown sugar as they were waiting for customers in the area.

Both are residents of Tyangal, Lalitpur sub-metropolitan city-6. Police said Krishna Pode is a part-time driver with taxi plate number Ba 1 Ja 1369.

Officials at KDPO said the duo was involved in bringing in drugs from outside the Valley and selling them in the local markets. Further investigations are underway.
