Politics should focus on economic prosperity: Dahal

Kathmandu, February 14

Chairman of the Unified CPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said class struggle is the main basis of socialism.

At a political and ideological orientation programme organised at party headquarters in the capital, Dahal said the new constitution has assimilated socialism and hence it should be nurtured.

Economic prosperity with social justice must be the main thought and work plan of a political party, he said, adding that economic issues should now be taken together with politics.

According to him, the new constitution has empowered minorities and marginalised communities. “The new constitution has given a new hope to Nepalis,” he argued.

On a different note, he said the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister to India was not for signing any agreement but for improving and strengthening the relations between the two countries.

Moreover, Dahal said the work plan adopted by the party for the liberation of Madhesi people was appropriate.
