Kathmandu, March 13

Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital has been conducting post-mortem on bodies of 49 people killed in the plane crash at Tribhuvan International Airport yesterday.

According to Dr Pramod Shrestha, chief of Forensic Department at TUTH, post-mortem on the bodies of 15 persons has already been completed. “Yesterday, we conducted post- mortem on four bodies and today 11.” He said it would take another four to five days for the results of post-mortem to get out.

Dr Shrestha said it was very difficult to identify 41 bodies as they were badly charred.

He said police were filing personal and material details of the crash victims even as the post-mortem on bodies was under way.

“We have been trying to identify the bodies with the help of fingerprints of four bodies and teeth examination of nine bodies. For other bodies, we have no option but to conduct DNA test for identification.”

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupam Thapa, families of 22 Nepali crash victims have already filed FIR today.
