Poudel stresses on consensus politics
Kathmandu, July 21:
Senior NC leader and Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel today said the politics of consensus should be continued despite the current differences among the political parties.
While addressing a function on “BP’s ideology in democratic republic” organised by Nepal Students’ Union, Poudel said the existing equation of the three parties was not against any party including the Maoists.
He also stressed on the need to strengthen the Nepali Congress to strengthen the democratic system in the country.
Another NC leader Prakash Man Singh said that focus should be laid on national unity and integrity.
NC spokesperson Arjun Narsingh KC urged everyone to begin work on making a new Nepal by constituting a new Nepali Congress.
During the function, student leaders criticised the NC and NSU leadership.
NSU general secretary Pratima Gautam demanded national convention of NSU, as the current executive committee was inefficient.
Former NSU president Kalyan Gurung blamed favouritism in distribution of ticket for CA polls for the party’s defeat in Constituent Assembly election.
NSU president Pradip Poudel expressed his commitment to call a national convention of the union at the earliest.
Meanwhile, minister Ram Chandra Poudel today said the new alliance of parties in the presidential election was to defeat the Maoists’ consumerism and totalitarianism character, RSS reported.
